For this year’s anniversary it was decided to have an overnight pub event out in the sticks. Aidy the owner of the Riverside hotel in Northam was more than happy to accommodate the LCoA. The hotel looked after us with discount drinks, food and accommodation.
The forecast was for heavy rain for the entire weekend, this may have put a few people off however we set out with a healthy number of 31 attendees including the 26 riders. All the riders assembled with full wet weather gear. This as it turned out would not be needed as we somehow avoided the deluge until we were well under cover in the pub.
The North contingent met up with the southerners in Stratton at the foot of Perth hills. From Stratton we rode out 65Kms which was a picturesque climb up the hills arriving in Toodyay. We took some light refreshment while gaining lots of interest and comments from the locals (lots apparently had one in their shed LOL). After a quick fuel stop we carried on to Northam, 27Kms. This stage was slightly more eventful with a few of scoots on the truck. Namely a snapped exhaust on one, a nikasil failure, and a bound back brake.
By this time the heavens had opened and it was hammering down, however this did nothing to dampen our enthusiasm. The fun and games started with the now famous pubkhana in replacement of the standard gymkhana affair. This event consisted of Lambretta inspired pub games, despite the competitiveness and the top prizes on offer by the close all participants were well lubricated, ready for the night session. The landlord had combined our run with a British theme night including cut price fish n chips, Quiz and a DJ. The pub was full and it was a great atmosphere. The Lambretta club quiz team came in at a very respectful 2nd place from a vast field of entrants. After a good night’s rest we gathered for breakfast ahead of a slightly damp ride back to Perth.
This was an extremely successful event enjoyed by all. It was great to see quite a few new members combined with the existing campaigners and a good number of re-subscriptions.
