After the success of the first Jim Strakers Run to the Coast last year we decided to do it all again. However this year we doubled up!! The Rockingham Scooter Rally was hosted by the Coastal Scooter Club and ran over the weekend of April 22,23and 24th.
Friday afternoon at 4pm the gates opened and members of all the clubs of W.A descended on the Alfred Hines camp for the weekender. Friday night we were entertained by some of Perths best DJs and two superb local bands. First on were The John Peel Experience, a punk band covering great tracks from the Clash to the Buzzcocks.
Next up were the fabulous VOXBOX. The boys covered tracks from three decades including the Kinks the Jam and Pulp. DJs filled in throughout the night till the early hours.
This year we offered food in the evenings and a fabulous breakfast both Saturday and Sunday morning. Beers and cider were served using tickets and BYO (this is Australia).
After a brilliant night on the Friday we had a great breakfast and then the stalls were put up selling mostly auto jumble but some great Lammy and Vespa artwork. Also new for this year was the Lambretta Club of Australia selling merchandise and giving information to those who needed it.
After the stalls were finished it was time for the organised ride out to a great pub, The Chase, approximately 12 kilometres away. Fifty scooters made the trip and the looks were brilliant as we passed through the Rockingham foreshore.
After a couple of beers and some great food we headed back to the camp to get ready for the night time antics. Back at the camp a local designer shop brought a pop up stall selling Pretty Green and Fred Perry clothing, whilst Kieran played acoustically some great songs from the Jam to Oasis. The winner of the show and shine was decided and was a beautiful Lambretta silver special!

DJs opened the nights fun at 7pm with the best Jam tribute act I have ever seen, the fantastic JAMPACT coming on at 8 for the first of two sets. The dance floor was packed as revellers lapped up songs from “Butterfly Collector” to “In The City”. The second set was the best I’ve experienced since being here in Australia
All together we had 170 revellers in for the weekend with that number jumping to over 200 Saturday night for the JAMPACT gig with many taking to the private beach to carry on the party till the early hours.
