G’day members, well it’s all go in the LCOA house as we approach the end of the financial year. The committee is busy getting together goodies for the membership packs, and new membership forms will be going out shortly.
Membership this year is at 182 slightly less than last year, but interestingly we have had 28 new members joining this year, which is 15% of the membership, which seems to me to be significant, although I don’t have a lot of old data to compare. By state this includes 5 new members in NSW, 4 in SA, 5 in Qld, 3 in WA, 1 in the ACT, and a whopping 10 in Vic.
The club has spent considerable time and money supporting worthwhile events around the country this year including, the inaugural Australian Lambretta Jamboree, the Australian Classic Scooter Mille, the Australian Classic National Scooter Rally, the Motoretto Giro, the Great South West Tour and more. Of course most of these events aren’t strictly Lambretta, and it would be great to have a Vespa club of Australia to share the burden, but there ain’t.
Merchandise is doing well in fact it is hard to keep up with demand, we have polos and hoodies on the way, I need to get some more t-shirts printed, and Brilly is working on some scooter covers.
Siobhan Ellis has been looking after our history website, and there is heaps of new… err old stuff on there, check it out on http://lambrettahistoryoz.weebly.com/
Phil Kellow continues his excellent work with the Pacemaker blog and is always looking for contributions. https://pacemakerlcoa.com/ ….of course you’re on it now so you don’t really need a link.
Chris Johnson has done a sterling job of rebooting the LCOA website and can be viewed at http://www.lambrettaclubaustralia.com/
Definitely one of the highlights of the year was the Canberra mob organizing and hosting the inaugural Australian Lambretta Jamboree, which I unfortunately wasn’t able to attend, however by all accounts though small, (lets call it intimate) was a raging success and has set a standard for the future. Plans are already well underway for the 2017 Jamboree to be held in Victoria. The Vic. Lambretta Jamboree committee has been hard at work and has found a venue, which they think is ideal, with more news to follow soon.
The AGM will be held in Bunbury, WA this year as part of the ANSCR at a venue TBA.
I will not be putting my hand up for President this year and would like to have a break from taking on an officer role on the committee. However for this to happen we need others to step up and contribute. The senior roles on the committee – Pres. Sec. and Treas., preferably need to be taken on by people with past experience on the committee or in that sort of role, however anyone prepared to donate their time and energy will always be welcome, be it on the committee or in a supporting role.
Lastly, speaking of time and energy the committee would like to acknowledge all the state reps, and other volunteers who help to keep this whole show on the road, we love youse all.
Cheers
Max and the Committee
